We went to WV this weekend to see the grandparents.

Unfortunately Corbin got sick once we got there, Started as an ear infection, then apparently a stomach bug. Even though he wasn't feeling well, he still managed to get into trouble

We thought he was feeling better, but halfway home he got sick again.
The nice thing about leather interior on a car, is that baby puke cleans up pretty easy

Havin' a ball

As impressive as this video is, I find it important to note that although Corbin knows what a ball is, and can call it by name, be also thinks any other object he can pick up is also a ball, and will tell you so with utter certainty, including but not limited to: dolls, remote controls, various tupperware containers, baskets, and toys of all types.

Playdate

This weekend Corbin had a playdate with a co-workers daughter. So Corbin could showoff we got out the ballpit.

Apparently Corbin tried to get a little fresh for a "first playdate" and Abby put a quick end to that.

Everybody had a good time, and ginger was happy to have another baby to play with.

Kelly was rather confused when she asked what Corbin and I were up to in the living room, and my response was "Corbin's eating chicken".

Since it was actually Corbin's birthday, we decided to give him another shot at his birthday cake. It was also a consideration that we could toss him in the bathtub right afterward.

Birthday Boy

For Corbin's first birthday we decided to take him to the Indianapolis Children's Museum

He was all ready in his "Mom's Lucky Charm" shirt.

Before starting we thought it would be a good idea to eat.

I told Corbin he couldn't have pizza till he got some teeth. We made an exception, since he only has "tooth" right now.

Our first stop was the Playscape, and area for children under 5.

Our first stop was the water table, a trough with a running current, and floating toys to play with.

We brought Corbin a red toy boat to take home with us.

Some of the sand from the sand pits had migrated over to the water trough.

Thankfully the had plastic smocks, in an attempt to keep the kids dry.

Corbin enjoyed it so much he didn't want to leave.

The next stop was a "gardening" area

After all this, sitting was a popular activity too

We tried sitting in an indy car,

maybe he prefers Nascar?

We decided to take a break for some birthday cake

We also got a smaller cake for Corbin to destroy.

We fully expected Corbin to destroy the cake, surprisingly he was a careful as could be.

He did manage to get frosting allover himself and Gramie.

After cake and all the excitement he fell asleep for almost an hour. He woke up just in time to take a sled ride with mom and dad.

You can see mommy cheated and got a head start on us.

Although he wasn't smiling during the ride, he had a big one on his face at the end.

Our final stop of the day was the Carousel.

He was getting a little cranky by this point, but forgot all about it once the ride started.

By the end of the day Corbin just wanted to head home.

We we put him to bed that night, he stayed up for another 20 minutes "talking" apparently telling his stuffed animals what a great day he had.

First Tooth

During bath time tonight I thought I saw a glimpse of something white in Corbin's mouth. I thought maybe the thrush was taking over his mouth again. Upon closer inspection I saw his first tooth poking through. It isn't in completely, but it will be soon. I would expect a mouthful in the next few weeks.....I have a hunch they will erupt all at once. I don't think Daddy will be letting Corbin bite his nose anymore. They will have to find a new game to play. This new game may involve Daddy putting all the Tupperware away so that Corbin can pull it out of the kitchen cabinets again. In the next few days we will try to take a photo of Corbin's new toothy grin.

First Steps

Corbin has been taking a couple of steps at a time for about a month now, but he hasn't had the courage to go very far. On Tuesday, when Kelly went to pick him up at daycare, he walked right over to the door. Our little baby is growing up.

Corbin's Clubhouse

For Corbin's birthday we got him a clubhouse. We decided to put it together early, since we had the chance.

Corbin oversaw the whole operation.

Corbin did periodic inspections, to check for potential problems.

He seems pretty happy with it.

Child Abuse by Lemon

Corbin isn't the only kid in the world with parents (uh-uhm...grandparents) that abuse them by force feeding lemons just to laugh at the sour face it creates. Many more videos are available on you-tube, illustrating this worldwide epidemic. Mexican babies are more commonly tortured by limes, watch video here. Parents that treat their children in this manner should be pummeled to death by giant citrus fruits.

Joking aside, it may not be wise to continue this practice because of a study that has found loads of bacteria on lemons in restaurants. I for one will not be ordering lemon with my drinks at restaurants. Read more here.

Purple People Eater

Well, yesterday Corbin was starting to sound a little hoarse, and this morning he could barely make any noise at all, and it looked like he had a coating in his mouth. So we took him to urgent care. Turns out he has Oral Thrush. As a treatment he was given Gentian Violet which has the interesting side effect of staining everything purple.

Corbin has been feeling a little better, but it is even sad to hear him try to laugh.

Dada, Mama, and Uh-Oh

Corbin is babbling in complete sentences now and we spend time wondering, "What are you trying to say?" There is some debate about the first word he has spoken. Even when Corbin was a tiny little guy, when he was very upset he would cry, MAMA.

Once he hit about six months old, all he would utter was dadadadadada. James thought Corbin mumbled Ginger's name once, in honor of the world's best dog (or at least the dog that will tolerate hours of tail pulling without complaint). I thought I heard Corbin exclaim, I Said It after succeeding to repeat Mama when prompted to do so.

Right now we are tickled by Corbin going around the house intentionally dropping things and exclaiming, Uh-Oh! Corbin is also very close to saying, doggie....which he finds to be a very funny word to try and say.

Corbin also got a new pair of "Cars" themed shoes, which happened to match the shirt he was wearing today.

They are the kind that have lights that light up when you walk. I think Kelly was slightly more excited about them than Corbin.
